Audium’s 176 speakers bathe listeners in sound & music that moves past, over, and under them. Sound sculptures are performed in darkness in the 49-seat theater.

Two decades ago, Ricci Rucker created Fuga, an album built from forgotten jazz records and a fabricated story that convinced listeners they were hearing twenty live musicians. Fuga would go on to become a seminal work in the emergence of Los Angeles’ beat scene, helping shape a movement that would transform electronic music.

One can only imagine what audiences at that time (54 years ago!) must have thought.

Spatial Sound in Schools is a semester-long program offered free to public high schools in partnership with SFUSD and Oakland School District.Audium offers this program – including staff time and venue use – to public schools at no cost.
We are 1/4th of the way to our final goal of reaching $10k, with only 1 week left to fundraise.
